Today, Friday. September 11th, 2026, in honor of the 25th anniversary, Fallston High School came together for Laps of
Legacy, a schoolwide tribute honoring the 2,977 lives lost in the attacks of September 11, 2001. Students and staff walked with a shared purpose, turning each lap into an act of remembrance, reflection, and unity.
At 9:47 a.m., the Fallston students and staff reached its goal of 2,977 laps, one for every life lost that day. But the tribute didn’t stop there. Students continued walking throughout the rest of the school day, showing that remembrance goes beyond reaching a number. Thank you to the veterans and family members of the victims who were able to join us this morning. We would like to take a moment to thank Mrs. Ryan who spent countless hours working to put this amazing event together.

Fallston High School was proud to participate in the send-off for the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company’s leg of the Great American Relay on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026. Students and staff came together to cheer on the participants as they began their portion of the relay, creating an enthusiastic display of school spirit and community support. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for our students to recognize the dedication of local first responders while being part of a nationwide event that celebrates service, unity, and patriotism.

The use of the Open Gate technology is another layer of safety and security; its use during the school day does not indicate a specific threat or concern. It is a proactive measure to better ensure student safety.

September is National Deaf Awareness Month, a time to recognize the achievements, culture, and history of the Deaf and hard of hearing community. HCPS joins in honoring this observance and the contributions Deaf individuals have made throughout our society.
Due to HCPS Facilities work FAHS will be closed on Monday August 10th. Office and admin staff will be available through email.

Recently, Mr. Grant served as a proctor and question writer for the Presidential 1776 award. Mr. Grant served as a proctor at the Dallas Regional and then was selected as a proctor for the Presidential 1776 Award finals at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. The Presidential 1776 Award was conducted under the guidance of the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education. Mr. Grant was previously awarded a Madison Fellowship in 2021. The finals hosted by Mario Lopez will air on CBS on June 30th at 8 p.m.

Congratulations to Fallston’s own Mr. James Grant who was chosen to proctor the Presidential 1776 Awards in Dallas at the George W. Bush Presidential Center last weekend. This contest was open to all students in America. Five students from our region advanced to the National Championship at the Kennedy Center on June 9. The winning student will receive 150K for college (2nd--75K, 3rd --25K). The contest was sponsored by the Education Department and the James Madison Memorial Foundation along with EbscoED. It will be broadcast on TV this summer to coincide with our 250th Birthday.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Harford County Public Schools is committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of our students, staff, and families. Throughout May, we will be sharing resources and information to help our community thrive inside and outside the classroom.
The Harford County Board of Education has approved an adjustment to the 2026-2027 calendar involving built-in inclement weather days. Schools and offices will now be closed on March 1, June 1, and April 12, 2027, and those days will be used as makeup days, in the order listed, only if needed due to inclement weather cancellations.
The adjustment reflects guidance from the Maryland State Board of Education, which has expressed a preference for makeup days to be distributed throughout the school year, and the use of virtual instruction, rather than adding days to the end of the school year.

Join Harford County Public Schools, the Office on Mental Health, UM Upper Chesapeake Health, and the Cook Center for Human Connection on May 8, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Ripken Stadium for Your Mind Matters. This free family wellness event will include activities for the entire family including crafts, a bounce house, rock climbing, football, and a light race.

Congratulations to Vibha Nanduri from Bel Air High School for being named the 2026-2027 Student Member of the Board!
Vibha was elected during the HCRASC General Assembly meeting on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Her term will run from July 1, 2026 and run through June 30, 2027.
She is currently a junior in the Biomedical Sciences program at Bel Air High School. She serves as 1st Vice President of HCRASC and the Environmental Affairs Coordinator for the Maryland Association of Student Councils.
