Fallston High School is proud to announce that student Jared Osterhout has been selected as the Maryland ProStart Student of the Year.
The Maryland Restaurant Association Educational Foundation recognized Osterhout for his attention to detail and strong involvement in Chef Michelle Richie's culinary program. He will be honored at the organization's annual gala on April 19, 2026.
Osterhout is enrolled in Fallston's ProStart program, a nationwide two-year curriculum that prepares high school students for careers in the restaurant and foodservice industry. The program combines classroom instruction in culinary techniques and management skills with hands-on work experience and industry mentorship.
Maryland ProStart serves more than 4,000 students at nearly 80 high schools across the state. Students have the opportunity to earn the ProStart National Certificate of Achievement by completing coursework, logging 400 hours of work experience, and demonstrating proficiency in workplace competencies. The certificate qualifies students for special scholarships and college credit at hospitality programs nationwide.
This statewide recognition reflects the quality of Career and Technical Education at Fallston High School and the dedication of both students and instructors in preparing young people for successful careers.
